Riek surrenders National Reconcilliation Process documents

Author : | Published: Saturday, May 4, 2013

Vice president Doctor Riek Machar has handed over documents related to the national reconciliation process today in a ceremony to show that there was no ill feeling. The documents include legal papers, the framework document of the peace process and M-o-Us signed between his office and that of the President. The move is in line with the recent presidential decree, stripping mister Riek of delegated powers the President had offered him.

The outgoing chairperson of the organizing committee for the National Reconciliation, Honorable Tor Deng described what they were doing: For his part, the new chairperson of the National Reconciliation, Daniel Deng Bul urged the general public participate in the peace process. Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul of the Episcopal Church of Sudan is outside the political arena and therefore seen by some as being able to bring a greater sense of reconciliation to the process.
