The Selection Panel tasked with choosing commissioners for the Commission for Truth, Reconciliation and Healing has announced the completion of the selection process.

Last year, the Selection Panel for the Commission of Truth, Healing and Reconciliation shortlisted 47 candidates for four positions out of 127 applications received following a public call.

Earlier this week, the panel said the selection exercise was conducted in line with the relevant legal framework and guided by principles of transparency, inclusivity, fairness and merit.

The panel said shortlisted candidates went through a rigorous assessment process, including interviews and evaluations using approved selection tools.

It added that the names of the successful candidates have now been submitted to the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs for further action.

The Commission of Truth, Reconciliation and Healing is mandated to address past injustices, promote national healing and foster reconciliation in South Sudan.

The Selection Panel expressed confidence that the selected commissioners have the integrity, competence and commitment required to carry out the mandate in the best interest of the people of South Sudan.
