Suspected killers of a prisoner arrested in NBGS

Two police officers and two civilians have been arrested in connection with the killing of a prisoner in Awiel South County of Northern Bahr El-Ghazal.

The four are suspected of killing a man who was trying to escape from the prison at Malek-alel headquarters over the weekend.

The County commissioner, Jel Mangok Yel, says the four are currently in detention.

He said the police have launched an investigation into the matter to find out what prompted the killing of the prisoner.

Mr. Yel says if they are found guilty, the suspects will be punished in accordance with the law.

He urged the family of the deceased to be patient as the law takes its course.

This is the second time a similar incident has happened in Aweil South.

In April, a prisoner was shot dead by a prison guard.
