Olony uses UN barge to transport arms – Aguer
Barges that were seized while delivering humanitarian assistance to Upper Nile is being used by the SPLM/IO to transport weapons to its forces.
SPLA Spokesperson Col Phillip Aguer says the barge belongs to the United Nations.
The Caretaker Governor of Upper Nile, General John Thok on Wednesday said forces of Gen Johnson Olony took over the barge in Kaka.
Col Aguer says the UN has not expressed condemnation for the act.
“That barge belongs to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, and the IO has been using this barge now to distribute ammunitions and arms,” he said.
“These forces are fighting SPLA now, and the barge is involved and the UN has not even protested.”
UNMISS Spokesperson, Ariane Quentier could not comment, but she told Eye Radio that the United Nations mission is looking into the matter.
