Yei receives 50,000 pieces of Mosquito nets
The Central Equatoria state ministry of health has delivered nearly 50,000 pieces of mosquito nets from its supporting partners to Yei River County.
The mosquito nets were donated to the county by the United States Aid agency, USAID.
The county health administrator Cons Guya told Eye Radio that the donation will benefit pregnant women and children below five years.
He says the net would be distributed to all the Payams of the county.
“The nets are meant for children under five and women of child bearing age who are coming for antenatal care. The nets are currently at the stores waiting for distribution and the distribution is going to cover all the Payams”, Guya said.
A civil society activist in Yei, Dara Felix called for timely distribution of the nets to the beneficiaries.
“We are calling upon the county health department to see to it that these mosquito nets are not kept in the store; they must go to the people. Secondly we are also calling the county health department to establish all and inclusive distribution to ensure that all our beneficiaries accesses these nets.” He said.
Last month, over 1,000 cases of malaria were registered in Yei River County, Central Equatoria State.
