Authorities in Budi County in Eastern Equatoria and Kabong district of Uganda have signed a trade agreement to open a free market across their border.

The agreement is to facilitate movement of people and goods.

“The benefit from this agreement, first there will be peace. Secondly we will benefit from the near distance of Budi to our neighbor,” said Felix Makuja, Commissioner of Budi.

Kabong district representative, Father Raphael Lopere, says this agreement will help strengthen relations between the people of the two communities.

He says the business communities will be moving without any difficulties.

“And once this market is planned, the business community will be moving throughout the month without creating any gap and this will keep the communities busy so that move away from thinking of raiding or thinking of theft or ambushes,” he said.

The agreement was signed yesterday in Budi and witnessed by the South Sudan Red Cross Society.
