Govt clarifies no directive requiring foreign nationals to leave South Sudan
JUBA — Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued a clarification stating no government directive exists requiring foreign nationals to leave South Sudan.
In a statement released on October 8, 2026, the Ministry responded to public remarks concerning foreign nationals participating in small-scale commerce in Juba.
The government noted that commercial operations stay subject to laws and regulations, and enforcement is handled by competent authorities lawfully, while no official mandate orders foreign residents to depart.
Reaffirming commitments to stability and international partnerships, the Ministry stated South Sudan remains dedicated to rule of law, foreign investment, and maintaining diplomatic ties with foreign nationals and home countries.
