Impact of insecurity on Gbudue education sector

Author : | Published: Thursday, November 24, 2016

Insecurity in Gbudue’s Ezo and Yambio counties is affecting delivery of services in the education sector, an official has told Eye Radio.

In recent months there have been reports of fighting between armed groups in these areas.

Education Minister Pia Philip says some of the roads that were blocked by the armed groups have been re-opened and people who fled have started to trickle back home.

However, he told Eye Radio that some partners who support the education sector still too scared to return to parts of Yambio and Ezo Counties.

“Some [partners] might not reach some of these areas due to fear.  This impedes progress,” Mr Pia said in an interview with Eye Radio in Juba at a meeting to review the education sector on Wednesday. The review is expected to end today.
