Improve on the judicial system to reduce violations of individual rights: HRC tells gov’t

The government must improve on the judicial system to reduce violations of individual rights in South Sudan, says the Deputy Chairperson of the Human Rights Commission.

Biel Jock said effective service delivery can contribute to sustained peace in the country.

“The government should work to solve continuous inter-tribal conflicts and cattle rustling in South Sudan.”

“If there is no service delivery, there is room for these criminal activities, and then it will result in violation of human rights.

“And also around the cities, the security organs should really have this training in mind that they are there to protect the civilians.”

According to the UN and many other rights groups, human rights violation is prevalent in South Sudan.
