Political party leaders set to adopt Inter-Party Dialogue resolutions on November 9
The Inter-Party Dialogue on election-related matters is expected to resume on Monday, November 9, after political party leaders agreed to reconvene and finalise resolutions from the discussions ahead of the December 2026 General Elections.
The announcement comes as the Inter-Party Dialogue on Election-Related Matters moves towards finalisation, following two weeks of discussions in Juba that ended on October 10, 2026.
The agreement was reached during a high-level consultative meeting attended by Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Secretary-General Dr Akol Paul Kordit, senior party officials and representatives of participating political organisations.
According to a statement from the Office of the SPLM Secretary-General, the meeting reviewed progress made in the dialogue and discussed arrangements for its conclusion.
Monday’s plenary session will focus on discussing, finalising and formally adopting the dialogue’s resolutions and joint communiqué.
The statement said that after the resolutions are adopted, the date for the official closing ceremony will be determined in consultation with President Salva Kiir.
President Kiir officially opened the Inter-Party Dialogue on Election-Related Matters on September 24, 2026, at the National Assembly Hall in Juba.
The dialogue brought together representatives of political parties, government officials, former vice presidents, diplomats, religious leaders, civil society organisations and other national and international stakeholders.
It was established to provide a platform for political parties to discuss election-related issues and build consensus ahead of the December 2026 General Elections.
At the opening, President Kiir urged political parties to focus their discussions on electoral matters and work towards a shared path for peaceful and credible elections.
The SPLM has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive political engagement, saying dialogue among political stakeholders is important for building consensus, democratic stability and national unity.
The party said its participation in the process reflects its commitment to prioritising the interests of South Sudanese and supporting efforts towards peace, institutional reform and national progress.
