Malakal: S.O.S looks after 130 orphaned children

Author : | Published: Thursday, June 4, 2015

A South Sudanese children village, known as S.O.S, says it is taking care of more than 130 orphans who have lost their parents in Upper Nile state.

The organization has been doing this since 2002, but the current number includes those who lost their parents since the conflict started in 2013.

The director of the organization says they have transferred the children from Juba to Malakal due to insecurity.

Banjah Charles says they have been providing food, education and shelter to the children in Juba.

“Most of them have lost either both parents or one parent so the organization has taken them with recommendation from coordination office and ministry of Gender and social affairs,” Mr Charles said.

Mr. Charles said SOS takes care of the orphans after a recommendation from the ministry of Gender.

He made the statement as the world marks the International Day for Innocent Children Victims of Aggression.

It is a day to acknowledge the pain suffered by children who are the victims of physical, mental and emotional abuse throughout the world.
