President Kiir signs book of condolences for Late Gen. Joseph Lagu

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has this morning signed a book of condolences for the late liberation leader, General Joseph Lagu Yanga, at the National Parliament in Juba.

The signing took place this morning, with former liberation struggle leaders from the Anyanya movement to the SPLM movements, politicians, senior government officials, diplomats and other dignitaries also signing the book in tribute to the late general.

The gathering brought together figures from different generations of South Sudan’s liberation struggle to pay their respects to General Lagu.

The High-Level Committee for the Burial of General Lagu is overseeing arrangements for the funeral.

The committee said the burial ceremony would proceed once preparations, including completion of the grave, were finalised.
