Author : | Published: Monday, September 19, 2016

Four scholars are expected to testify about the South Sudan conflict at a US parliamentary committee hearing on Tuesday.

The academicians include – among others – Dr Jok Madut Jok of the think tank, Sudd Institute, and Dr Luka Biong Deng, a global fellow at the Norway-based Peace Research Institute.

The men will give the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations an evaluation of the recent proposal for the United Nations and African Union to manage South Sudan for the next 10 to 15 years.

The hearing, entitled: “South Sudan: Options in Crisis”, also requires the well-educated men to explain what they think should be done to bring forth political reforms in the country.

They will also give their views on the implementation of the August 2015 peace agreement, whether it is holding and what they think the international community should do to support the efforts.

The hearing will take place in Washington DC tomorrow at 10am.
