Security deployed ahead of return of IDPs to Luri

Security forces have been deployed in Luri-Kworojik localities in Juba to allow more than 1,500 displaced people to return to their homes.

The IDPs fled to Juba One basic school after clashes between cattle keepers and farmers last month. Eight people were killed in the incident. Houses were also set ablaze.

The Chief of the area, James Yacob, says the forces have been deployed to provide security to the returnees.

He says the Central Equatoria government and local organizations will transport the displaced people to their homes.

“We have received now 10 buses to relocate those people to kworojik and first of all we put security arrangements to secure the village,” said chief Yacob.

He said tents have been provided to those whose homes were burnt during the fight.
