South Sudan Premier league 2026/27 season to kick off this Saturday
The 2026/27 South Sudan Premier League will kick off on Saturday, August 22, at Buluk Playground in Juba, with defending champions El Merriekh Bentiu facing newcomers Munuki FC.
This came after the Competitions Committee of the South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) has released the official match schedule for the first round of the 2026/27 South Sudan Premier League.
The schedule, contained in a circular signed by SSFF Secretary General Adv. Bak Athian Bak and addressed to secretaries of Premier League clubs, outlines the dates, venues and administrative arrangements for the opening round of the new season.
The league is scheduled to kick off on Saturday, August 22, 2026, with the first round expected to conclude on Sunday, December 13.
The opening fixture will see El Merriekh SC face Munuki SC at Buluk Playground in Juba at 3 p.m.
Buluk Playground and Juba National Stadium have been designated as the primary venues for matches during the first round.
The 14 teams competing in the 2026/27 South Sudan Premier League are Al-Ghazala Wau, Al-Hilal Wau, Al-Malakia Juba, El-Merriekh Bentiu, Atlabara FC, Holy Family FC, Jamus FC, Kator FC, Koryom FC, Munuki FC, Olympic Renk, Salaam Aweil FC, Super Stars Bor, and Wajuma FC.
The domestic calendar also includes breaks to accommodate international and continental football commitments.
The first preliminary round of CAF interclub competitions is scheduled to take place between September 4 and 13, with first-leg matches set for September 4 to 9 and second-leg fixtures from September 11 to 13.
The league will also pause for the FIFA international window for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, scheduled from September 21 to October 6.
Another international break is scheduled from November 9 to 17 for further AFCON 2027 qualifying fixtures.
The SSFF has directed all participating clubs to review the official schedule and begin technical and logistical preparations ahead of the opening round.
Clubs have also been urged to ensure their squads are ready for the start of the campaign and to comply with the federation’s administrative requirements throughout the season.
