Unicef to provide school supplies to over 400,000 children

About 400,000 school-going children will receive school supplies from the UNICEF next month.

UNICEF will launch the “Back-to-Learning” campaign to encourage children and teachers to return to schools in conflict affected areas.

UNICEF Chief of Strategic Communication Duone Porter said the initiative will be launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.

“In the conflict areas, the initiative will focus on basic needs ranging from getting supplies and kits for students and teachers and in many cases, we will have tents and temporary learning spaces so that there will be physical spaces for the children,” Ms Porter told Eye Radio’s Dawn show.

“We will also be looking at all the country and make sure that children are enrolled in schools, teacher training so that teachers can teach more effectively”.

She added that UNICEF provided learning facilities to over 80,000 children in war-affected areas last year.
