50 wildlife rangers graduate after two-month training

The Ministry of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism has passed out 50 wildlife rangers after a two-month training programme at Badingilo National Park.

The training was facilitated by African Parks in partnership with the Ministry of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism.

The rangers were trained in patrol procedures, weapons safety, appropriate use of force, law enforcement standards and anti-poaching operations.

The training also focused on discipline, professional conduct, restraint and respect for local communities.

According to the ministry, the new rangers are expected to increase patrol coverage and strengthen the park’s response to illegal wildlife activities, including the commercial bushmeat trade.

The trainees are expected to be deployed at Badingilo National Park.

Badingilo National Park is part of the Great Nile Migration Landscape, which became South Sudan’s first World Heritage Site after it was inscribed by UNESCO.
