Wau bans ‘indecent dressing’

The Mayor of Wau has issued a local order, banning what he calls ‘Indecent dressing’ by young people in the town.

Arkangelo Anyar said he was amused after a group of young people were arrested in a party after being mistaken for criminals.

Their clothes were torn by the police before they were released, an act which Mr. Anyar considers unlawful.

“The order against indecent dressing is meant to stop unlawful arrests due to mistaken identity,” Mr. Anyar told Eye Radio.

“Because you get a child, a boy or a girl, dressing up in way that some of body parts, which are forbidden, are left out and there, creating other emotional feelings because it becomes a security threat.”

Mr. Anyar also urged parents and guardians to encourage young people to dress decently.
