Central Equatoria cabinet approves SSP 108.2 billion draft budget

The Central Equatoria State Council of Ministers has approved a proposed budget of 108.2 billion South Sudanese Pounds for the 2026-2027 financial year.

The draft budget was presented by the Minister of Finance, Planning and Investment during an extraordinary cabinet meeting chaired by Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony on Thursday.

The Council approved the budget subject to amendments.

It says the proposed budget is aimed at addressing economic challenges, improving transparency and good governance, and strengthening public service delivery.

During the meeting, Governor Adil urged government officials and citizens to maintain peace and protect civilians during the election period.

He also called for the protection of government property for the benefit of present and future generations.

The Deputy Governor presented a security report showing that the overall security situation in the state has remained calm and stable over the past three months.

The report noted that isolated incidents were contained by authorities.

The Council attributed the improved security situation to coordinated efforts by security organs and committees.
