Governor Adil Urges Gen. John Kenyi Latio to End Fighting in Wonduruba

Central Equatoria Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony has called on Gen. John Kenyi Latio, also known as Kenyi Loburon, to end fighting in Wonduruba and embrace peace, saying continued violence is forcing civilians to flee their homes and preventing children from attending school.

Speaking during a visit to Wonduruba Payam Administrative Area on on Monday, Governor Adil said there was no need for continued fighting, urging Gen. Kenyi to consider the suffering of civilians.

“Last time, I said let Kenyi Loburang accept peace. There is no need for you to fight while children continue to miss school,” Governor Adil said.

He said repeated clashes were forcing residents of Wonduruba to flee their homes, while children were being deprived of education.

“If he was born here in Wonduruba, let him stop fighting. The children want to go to school. You may fight, but it is the civilians who are suffering,” he said.

Governor Adil urged his message to reach Gen. Kenyi Latio directly, saying the government wants an end to the violence.

“Let this message go to Kenyi that the governor is the one who said it. Enough of the suffering. Pointing fingers at each other as rebels must stop. We want peace,” he said.

The governor also called for displaced children to return to school and urged an immediate end to fighting in Wonduruba.

“Let the children come back so that we can protect what we have. Put an end to the fighting in this area,” Governor Adil said.
