ICT Director urges police to prioritize public safety and professional

The Director of ICT for the South Sudan National Police Service (SSNPS), Major General James Madut Ngor, has urged police officers to prioritize the safety of residents, motorists, pedestrians, and local communities as the institution pushes for stronger discipline, accountability, and professionalism.

Addressing a general assembly of officers at the ICT Headquarters in Juba, Gen. Ngor emphasized that the public conduct of police personnel directly influences the image, credibility, and overall public trust in the service. He called on officers to perform their duties with integrity, respect, and institutional commitment.

Gen. Ngor specifically directed personnel to remain vigilant while protecting road users and urged the adoption of modern operational standards, including ICT-based policing, intelligence-led operations, traffic safety measures, rapid response capabilities, and strengthened community policing networks.

To maintain institutional order, the Director issued a directive instructing all absentee officers to report immediately and resume their official duties in compliance with police regulations and discipline.

He further called on personnel to respect the chain of command, safeguard public property, uphold the law, and foster stronger community relations.

Gen. Ngor reaffirmed the commitment of the ICT administration to support police officers by improving resources, institutional services, and welfare support, concluding the assembly with a call for unified service to the nation.
