Juba City Council rehabilitates Al-Sabah–Malakia Road corridor

The Juba City Council has conducted road rehabilitation works along the Al-Sabah Hospital–Malakia Road corridor as part of efforts to improve roads across the city.

The council conducted repairs along the busy road on Saturday, saying the works are aimed at improving movement for drivers and pedestrians and enhancing traffic flow within the city and its suburbs.

According to the council, successful repairs have already been completed on Hai Thoura Road and sections leading to the University of Juba.

However, the council says it continues to face challenges, including inadequate machinery and construction materials, which are imported into the country.

It says it remains committed to ensuring that roads are properly repaired and made durable rather than carrying out temporary fixes.

The council has appealed to the public to seek permission before starting any construction or improvement works near roads.

It added that proper drainage is essential for preserving roads and that unauthorized activities blocking water flow contribute significantly to road damage.
