Juba County suspends illegal Boda-boda associations

The Commissioner of Juba County, Samuel Emiliano Wani, has ordered the suspension of all illegal, unregistered and unauthorized Boda Boda associations operating within Juba County.

The decision follows a resolution by the Central Equatoria State Security Committee, as well as concerns raised by the Juba County Security Committee over public order, security and the unauthorized activities of some Boda Boda associations.

According to a statement issued by his office, Commissioner Wani directed all illegal, unregistered and unauthorized Boda Boda associations, including their offices and branches, to cease operations immediately.

The order prohibits the affected associations from collecting fees, registering members or issuing identification cards or permits in the name of the associations.

It says any person or group found violating or obstructing the implementation of the order will be dealt with in accordance with the applicable law.

The statement also urged Boda Boda associations wishing to operate legally to submit their registration and other relevant documents to the competent authorities for verification and authorization.

The order further called on Boda Boda riders, association leaders and other stakeholders to remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding, and to cooperate with authorities during the verification and regulation process.
