Kiir pays tribute to SSPDF General Nichola Dhoyier Dak following his death

President Salva Kiir has paid tribute to late senior SSPDF General Nichola Dhoyier Dak following his death late last month.

According to a statement issued by the Office of the President, Maj. Gen. Nichola Dhoyier Dak passed away on May 28 at a hospital in Juba after an illness.

In a condolence message issued this morning, President Kiir eulogised the late general as a patriot who dedicated his youth to the liberation of our country.

The President extended his sympathies to the bereaved family, friends, and colleagues of the late officer within the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF).

He said General Dak demonstrated exceptional courage during his long career as a soldier and intelligence officer, noting that he served with distinction in both roles throughout his service.

President Kiir stated that the country owes a debt of gratitude to Maj. Gen. Dak for his dedication, patriotism, and years of service, adding that his legacy of duty and honour will continue to inspire future generations of security personnel.

According to a funeral program seen by Eye Radio, the late general is expected to be laid to rest today at Martyrs Cemetery in Juba.

Before the burial, the cortege was scheduled to proceed to the SSPDF General Headquarters in Bilpham.

The program indicates that at 9:00 AM, the body was expected to arrive at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Nuer Congregation, Jebel, for a prayer service before the final burial.
