MP Ali Adlan Nur dies; parliament pays final tribute

Member of Parliament Hon. Ali Adlan Nur Aldeen Abdul Khair has died after a short illness in Juba.

The late lawmaker was honoured on Tuesday during a final farewell ceremony at the National Legislative Assembly attended by the Speaker, members of parliament, government officials, family, friends and colleagues.

His body was later taken to the Muslim Cemetery in Konyo Konyo, where funeral prayers were held before his burial.

Ali Adlan hailed from Koma in Maban County, Upper Nile State. He was elected in 2010 as one of the youngest members of Sudan’s Parliament representing the SPLM. Following South Sudan’s independence, he served at the SPLM National Secretariat before becoming a member of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly.

Tributes described him as a humble and dedicated leader who devoted his life to serving his community and the country.

One tribute : “Those of us who had the privilege to know and work with him have lost not only a colleague but a true brother.”

His family thanked everyone who stood with them during the mourning period and appealed for continued prayers for the late lawmaker.
