Police seize 653 strips of Tramadol in Aweil

Police in Aweil, Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, have confiscated 653 strips of Tramadol and arrested three suspects during a raid on a house allegedly used as a drug storage facility.

Police spokesperson Madut Ngong Aluei announced the seizure in a statement to the media yesterday.

According to Aluei, the drugs were recovered from the house in Aweil city, where three suspects were arrested.

“Police in the city of Aweil raided a house in the city that was being used as a drug storage facility and seized 653 small cartons containing Tramadol, a drug used by young people to intoxicate themselves in order to commit crimes,” he said.

They are 25-year-old Nyigate Piol Yak, 25-year-old Ayak Piol Yak, and 27-year-old Lual Dhil Dhil.

The three suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.

“Police arrested three suspects who were in possession of the drugs, and a report was filed against them at the police station. They are currently being investigated to determine the source of the drugs these three suspects are Nyigate Piol Yak 25, Ayak Piol Yak 25 and Lual Dhil Dhil 27 years old,” the police officer said.

Police say a report has been filed against the suspects at the police station, and investigations are underway to establish the source of the Tramadol and determine the extent of their involvement in its distribution.

Authorities have raised concerns over the misuse of Tramadol, particularly among young people, and its links to drug abuse and criminal activities.

Aluei said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb the illegal distribution and misuse of drugs in the state.
