Revenue Authority orders taxpayers to clear taxes by September 15
The South Sudan Revenue Authority has given taxpayers up to September 15 to file and pay their taxes for the month of August.
The deadline applies to monthly tax returns, quarterly filings and outstanding tax arrears arising from audits or enforcement assessments.
In a notice issued on 7th September 2026, the Authority urged taxpayers to clear all outstanding liabilities by the deadline.
The notice covers personal income tax withholdings on wages and salaries, rental properties, government contracts, technical fees, dividends, royalties, lottery and other gaming winnings.
It also requires manufacturing companies, hotels, bars, restaurants, financial institutions, travel agencies and telecommunications companies to file and pay sales and excise taxes by September 15.
The Revenue Authority further directed taxpayers who have not filed or paid taxes from previous periods to do so immediately.
This includes business profit tax, personal income tax and presumptive income tax for sole proprietors, as well as other outstanding tax liabilities.
Taxpayers with arrears recorded in the Domestic Tax Information System, or DTIS, have been advised to work with the arrears management committee and make payments through designated commercial banks.
The Authority also reminded businesses to continue filing and paying their current tax obligations online.
It warned unregistered businesses operating without a Tax Identification Number, or TIN, that they are operating illegally and could face penalties under the Taxation Act 2009 as amended.
The notice also calls on taxpayers to update their contact information on the e-tax system.
The Commissioner of Domestic Tax Revenues Division, Angello Aguot Deng, signed the notice dated 7th September 2026.
The Authority says timely payment of taxes is important for national development and economic stability.
