How should South Sudan eternalize its war heroes?

Author : | Published: Tuesday, August 1, 2017

Professor Jok Madut Jok has called for establishment of war memorial to commemorate those who died for liberation of South Sudan.

The 21-year civil war, which broke out in 1983 and ended in 2005, is said to have left over 2 million people dead.

Many senior members of the liberation movement, including Dr John Garang, also died.

One of the best ways to honor those who died on the battlefields, Professor Jok says, is to do something that they will remind future generations of the struggle.
