SPLM factions disagree on unity approaches

The SPLM factions at the Arusha dialogue have disagreed on how to unite the party.
The spokesman of the SPLM delegation, Akol Paul Khordit, says the SPLM in Opposition have proposed the dissolution of the party.
But the Former Detainees say former secretary general Pagan Amum should be reinstated to his position in order to reunite the party.
Mr Akol says that his delegation has rejected the proposals.
“[For] the secretary … his dismissal has got nothing to do with the current conflict and therefore it should not be linked as a condition for peace or in the question of the SPLM reunification,” Akol said.
“Also, the SPLM in opposition have put forward a condition that is obstructive for achievement of peace, a condition that is meant to derail the peace process and that is dissolution of the SPLM.”
