Tennet community petitions Governor Lobong to transfer Arilo Payam to Lafon County

The Tennet community in Juba has petitioned the Governor of Eastern Equatoria State, Louis Lobong Lojore, to review the administrative status of Arilo Payam.

The community wants Arilo Payam transferred from Imehejek Administrative Area to Lafon County.

It says the request is based on security concerns and limited access to Imehejek headquarters due to poor routes.

Governor Lobong acknowledged receiving the petition but said the request appears to conflict with issues discussed during a recent meeting in Torit.

He also raised concerns about limited coordination among Tennet communities in Juba, Torit and those at the grassroots.

The governor said the concerns raised in the petition should be addressed through an inclusive and consultative process involving all communities in Arilo Payam.

He urged the Tennet community to engage neighbouring Lopit bomas, which are also part of Arilo Payam, and include their views in discussions about the payam’s administrative status.

Governor Lobong stressed that no decision should be made without consulting all communities living within Arilo Payam.
