Trade minister directs ambassador to deepen trade ties with Ghana

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Labanya Margret Mathya, has directed South Sudan’s ambassador to Ghana with strengthening trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

The directive followed a meeting between Dr Labanya and Ambassador Jacqueline Natepi Ben on Monday at the ministry’s headquarters in Juba.

The two officials discussed potential areas of trade and investment cooperation between South Sudan and Ghana.

Their discussions focused on identifying mutually beneficial trade opportunities, strengthening bilateral commercial relations, promoting investment in key sectors, and facilitating the exchange of goods and services to boost economic growth.

South Sudan and Ghana signed a general cooperation agreement in 2015 to promote trade and cooperation in other sectors.

The agreement, signed in Ethiopia on the sidelines of the AU summit in Addis Ababa, provides for cooperation in trade, education, health, agriculture, mining, and technical cooperation.
