Transport resumes between Ngauro and Kapoeta after three-week disruption

• • 1 min read

Transport between Ngauro Administrative Area and Kapoeta town in Eastern Equatoria State has resumed after nearly three weeks of disruption caused by tensions between security forces and local youth, local authorities say.

In a statement, Lopoyok Augustino Jervase, caretaker chief of Ngauro Administrative Area, formerly part of Budi County, said a convoy of 14 commercial vehicles carrying essential food and non-food supplies arrived in Ngauro town from Kapoeta this afternoon.

The road closure had caused shortages of essential goods, leading to rising prices and the depletion of stocks in local shops.

Lopoyok urged traders to reduce prices to make basic commodities more affordable for residents.

He also called on communities to resolve disputes peacefully and allow the safe and free movement of people and commercial vehicles along public roads.

More commercial vehicles are expected to reach Ngauro in the coming days as transport services resume.
