Twic East urges govt to beef up area’s security

• • 1 min read

The County Commissioner of Twic East in Jonglei State is appealing to the government to bolster security in the area.

Dau Akoi Jorkuc told Eye Radio that there have been reports of cattle raiding in the county.

“There is a general fear,” he said, “there is also attack in a place call Gadiang; people are still raiding cattle especially during night hours.”

“Apart from that, flooding is also still alarming and people are still constructing dykes.”

Mr. Akoi said the roads connecting the county to the state capital Bor have been cut off by fighting between government forces and forces loyal to Dr. Riek Machar, leaving thousands of civilians in dire need of food.
