Unity State launches 92-kilometer road project linking Mayom to Warrap

The Governor of Unity State, Joseph Nguen Manytuil, has launched the construction of a 92-kilometer road linking Mayom County to Twic County in neighbouring Warrap State.

According to a statement from the Office of the Governor, the road will connect Mankien Payam in Mayom County, Unity State, to Ajakuach Payam in Warrap State.

The state government said the road will improve the movement of goods and services between the two states.

Governor Manytuil said the project will boost economic activities in Unity State and create an important link between the state capital and Juba through the Greater Bahr El Ghazal region.

The project is expected to be completed within two months and is fully funded by the state government through the Ministry of Finance and Planning.

The government said the road rehabilitation will also help save lives, especially among pregnant women who have faced challenges reaching health facilities due to poor road conditions over the past two years.

Manytuil said the initiative is part of efforts to improve road infrastructure across the state using available resources to support development and recovery.
