Upper Nile cabinet cuts number of technical advisors from 17 to 7

The Upper Nile State Council of Ministers has approved a plan to cut down the number of technical advisors from 17 to 7.

The decision was reached during the first cabinet meeting chaired by Governor James Koang Chuol since his reappointment in May.

According to a statement from the Office of the Governor, the decision was among a series of resolutions approved during the meeting on Thursday.

The cabinet reviewed key resolutions from 2025 before endorsing the plan to cut the number of technical advisors from 17 to 7.

The council also approved a proposal to change the state logo and endorsed the 2026 State Development Agenda.

Governor James Koang further directed all state cabinet ministers currently in Juba to return to Malakal immediately.

Governor Koang was reappointed as Governor of Upper Nile State for the second time in two years.

He first served as governor between March 2025 and October.
