Upper Nile promises safe passage for aid agencies along Sobat corridor

Upper Nile State Governor Lt. Gen. James Koang Chuol Ranley has promised to secure aid supply routes along the Sobat Corridor following high-level security talks in Juba.

The commitment came during a meeting between state leadership, national ministers, the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission, and the World Food Programme.

Discussions focused on securing access along the Sobat Corridor to deliver food, health supplies, and emergency relief to displaced populations in Baliet, Ulang, and Nasir.

Lt. Gen. Koang told officials that his administration will prioritize the protection of humanitarian personnel and relief assets.

He urged closer coordination between state authorities, aid agencies, and local leaders to keep supply lines open.

Representatives at the meeting agreed that maintaining security along the Sobat Corridor remains central to stabilizing communities affected by recent conflict and displacement.

Both sides pledged to coordinate security measures directly with local administration offices in the coming weeks.
