WBGs launches free medical treatment campaign in Wau

The Ministry of Health in Western Bahr el Ghazal State has launched a free medical treatment campaign at Hai Lokoloko Health Center in Wau in partnership with the Med Connect Community Health Fair to improve access to healthcare services.

Speaking during the launch on Saturday, State Minister of Health Dr. Francis Michael Hassan reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery across the state.

Dr. Francis said the ministry is working with partners, including the Med Connect Community Health Fair, to strengthen health services and expand access to medical care for residents.

He said the campaign forms part of broader efforts to improve healthcare access, particularly for vulnerable communities.

The minister encouraged residents to take advantage of the initiative by seeking free treatment and medical consultations from healthcare professionals participating in the campaign.

Representing the Med Connect Community Health Fair, Dr. Sylvester Pio John said the initiative brings together medical students from three universities in South Sudan, including students in the diaspora, to support efforts aimed at strengthening the country’s healthcare system.

He said the program seeks to improve medical service delivery while providing young health professionals with practical experience through community outreach activities.

Meanwhile, the Sheikh of Hai Lokoloko, Peter Tido Tarifa, welcomed the initiative and commended the State Ministry of Health and its partners for organizing the campaign.

He said the program will benefit many residents who cannot afford medical treatment and called for continued support to improve healthcare services in local communities.
