Authorities assess security hotspots along Juba–Torit road

Authorities in Central Equatoria State have intensified efforts to address security concerns along the Juba–Torit Road, with a delegation conducting a field assessment of security hotspots in Lokiliri Payam.

The delegation was led by State Security Advisor Angelo Daya and Juba County Commissioner Eng. Samuel Emiliano Wani Pitia, following a directive from the Governor of Central Equatoria State.

The assessment focused on strengthening security along the highway, improving cooperation between organized forces and local communities, and addressing reports of illegal checkpoints and unauthorized taxation affecting road users and residents.

Security Advisor Angelo Daya called for closer cooperation between security forces and communities, urging commanders to maintain regular engagement with chiefs, local authorities and residents in identified security hotspots.

The area commander, meanwhile, highlighted logistical challenges affecting the forces’ ability to conduct security operations.

The delegation reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to improving security along the Juba–Torit Highway.
