Higher Education Ministry to establish official website and social media platforms

The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Changkuoth Bichiock Reth, has directed the ministry to establish an official website and permanent social media platforms to improve access to verified government information.

According to a statement from the ministry, Changkuoth issued the directive during a meeting with the ICT Department to assess working conditions and strengthen the ministry’s digital communication system.

The minister said the absence of official platforms has created information gaps that could expose students and the public to misinformation, fake scholarship announcements and fraud.

Changkuoth directed the ICT Department to develop a secure ministry website that will serve as the official source of information on scholarships, admissions, policies and other ministry programmes.

He also ordered the immediate creation of official social media platforms, emphasizing that they should belong to the institution and not individuals.

The minister said the platforms should remain operational regardless of changes in ministry leadership and called for the official social media platforms to be operational within the week.

According to the statement, the ministry’s new website is expected to be fully operational within one month.

The ministry said the digital transformation is intended to strengthen transparency, accountability and public confidence while reducing opportunities for impersonation and fraudulent activities targeting students.
