Meet the new caretaker cabinet of Unity State

The Governor of Unity State, Dr. Joseph Manytuil Wejang, has appointed eight caretaker ministers to serve in the state administration during the election period.

The appointments come after President Salva Kiir dissolved the cabinet and legislature at both the national and state levels in September.

In a gubernatorial order issued on Wednesday, Governor Manytuil appointed Simon Chuol Biel as Caretaker Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement, Nyakenya Johanes Keah as Caretaker Minister of Information and Communication, and Ling Gatgach Nhial as Caretaker Minister of Finance, Planning and Investment.

He also appointed Gatluak Gatwech Pean as Caretaker Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Environment, William Bajuoy Makuet as Caretaker Minister of Transport, Roads and Bridges and Physical Infrastructure, and Rose Nyaboth Toch as Caretaker Minister of Health.

Gatluak Tater Riek was also appointed Caretaker Minister of General Education and Instruction.

The caretaker officials will oversee their respective dockets until a new government is elected on December 22, 2026.
