VP Igga pays last respects to ex-finance minister Salvatore Garang Mabiordit

Vice President Dr James Wani Igga has paid his last respects to former Minister of Finance and Planning Salvatore Garang Mabiordit, whose remains were airlifted to Warrap State for burial.

Mabiordit died in Juba last week following a period of illness.

According to a statement from the Vice President’s Office, Dr Wani Igga joined government officials, mourners and members of the late minister’s family at Juba International Airport as his body was taken to Warrap State.

Dr Wani Igga described the late Mabiordit as a devoted public servant who dedicated his life to serving the people of South Sudan with integrity and dignity.

He also extended his condolences to the bereaved family and the people of South Sudan.

Mabiordit first served as 1st Undersecretary in the Ministry of Finance and Planning before serving as Minister of Finance and Planning on two occasions.

He will be laid to rest in his home village in Gogrial West County, Warrap State.
