President Kiir receives remains of former petroleum official

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has received the remains of former Ministry of Petroleum Undersecretary and Senior Technical Advisor, Molana Mayen Wol Jong, following their arrival in Juba from Nairobi, Kenya.

In a post on the Offical Facebook page of the Ministry of Petroleum, President Kiir received the remains on Sunday, accompanied by the First Lady and senior government officials.

Officials and staff from the Ministry of Petroleum, led by Acting Undersecretary Simon Chol Martin, also joined the reception at the capital.

The late Molana Mayen Wol Jong was a senior petroleum official who served the government in various capacities.

The Ministry of Petroleum has expressed condolences to his family, relatives, colleagues and others mourning his death, describing him as a dedicated public servant.

The ministry says his contribution and service to South Sudan will be remembered.
