Soldiers on trial

Six members of the organized forces appeared before the military court in Juba on Friday for alleged night crimes. 

According to the police, the suspects were arrested by security forces in connection with night robberies in the capital recently.

The arrests amidst complaints by Juba residents who believe that there have been increased night crimes lately.

In some cases, residents say armed men in uniform hijack vehicles in town.

Others say the criminals loot their properties such as vehicles, laptops and mobile phones.

The Deputy Police Spokesperson, Col. James Dak Carlo, said the suspects are accused of theft and hijacking.

He told the media that the six, including a reported Sudanese national, are being tried for the alleged crimes.

Colonel Dak added that two of the suspects are reportedly the main brains behind the alleged crimes.

He says police is still hunting for other suspects.
